This paper takes the actual technical renovation of a heating network in a city as an example. Through hydraulic calculation, variable operation condition analysis, reasonable selection of water pumps, joint operation of the relay pumps and the locally distributed variable frequency pump system, and the heating network balance control strategy to achieve valve-pump linkage, the problem of insufficient transmission and distribution in the network is effectively solved, the system circulating flow increases by 23.4%, and the heating supply increases by 32.3%. It also reduces the system pressure and the risk of network leakage. At the same time, it solves the problems of low available pressure head for end users and uneven flow distribution. The load analysis and operation condition regulation control methods applied in the case, as well as the variation law of the hydraulic conditions of multi-pump combination discovered during operation, can be used to effectively optimize the operation regulation of this type of system.
